The first international competition in 2025, VNL National Volleyball League, will begin in June. Players from different countries will return to the national team for training after their professional season is over. At the same time, many countries have recently done a friendly match. Italian men’s volleyball team and German men’s volleyball team played in Munich, the 25th Germany and won Italy in five games.

Italian men have three players in the volleyball squad, Mattia Boninfante, Giovanni Gargioo and Kamil Richlici, who made their debut for the adult team. In the friendly match, head coach Ferdinando de Georgio kept the three in the opening lineup. It is worth mentioning that it is Luxembourg’s Richlicy who wore the Italian national team shirt for the first time after gaining Italian nationality. He also scored the highest score in this game.

Richlici, 20, 2019-20 joined the Italian club Lube from the season and played for Perugia and Tentino. In an interview recently, he said in response to his international competition for Italy: “Although I am not a real Italian, I have lived in Italy for seven years and grow as an athlete in this country. This is where I have given the biggest achievement of my career and the most difficult moment of my career.”

In this friendly match, Germany faces the new player, Italy won five hard games. Head coach de Georgie believes that this year’s international season is about to begin and the team may face any inconvenience: “This is a good test for us. Germany is very competitive and there is always a lot of profit in playing with them. Some of our players have returned to the national team just two days ago or a week ago. We need to improve better and better.”
The first week of the VNL Men’s Group will start from June 11, and Germany and Italy will face Canada’s Quebec in the first week.
