After a short break, one of the most iconic football competitions returns to Polish television. Fans on the river Vistula will once again be able to follow the excitement of the FA Cup for free. TVP Sport has already released its card for the first round broadcast, and the planned matches include a number of hits with the participation of the Premier League’s biggest brands.
The FA Cup returns to Polish television
The world’s oldest football competition will be broadcast again in Poland. TVP Sport officially took over the rights to broadcast the FA Cup, ending the tournament’s absence from the national schedule. Previously, FA Cup matches were available on Eleven Sports, but after the end of the 2023/2024 season, neither station decided to extend the contract.
Now the situation has changed, and the public broadcaster not only returns with this competition, but immediately announces a wider broadcast offer.
FA Cup 1/32 Final Match on TVP Sport
Fans will see the first matches under the new deal in January. TVP Sport will show selected matches of the 1/32 finals of the FA Cup, and plans include clashes with top Premier League teams and teams famous for cup surprises.
The opening broadcast is scheduled for Friday’s match between Wrexham and Nottingham Forest. The match promises to be particularly interesting given Wrexham’s massive popularity and clash with top league rivals.
Hits featuring Premier League giants
The next few days will bring a real marathon of cup emotions. On Saturday, fans will see three matches, including a match between Manchester City and Exeter City, as well as doubles between Tottenham and Aston Villa and Charlton and Chelsea. It is a classic example of the magic of the FA Cup, with teams from different levels of the competition facing each other.
Sunday also promises to be very interesting. Screens will show matches between Portsmouth and Arsenal and Manchester United and Brighton. For fans of English football, it’s an ideal opportunity to see almost the entire league’s top teams in action in a short space of time.
Liverpool at the end of the first round
The Round of 32 broadcast schedule concludes on Monday with Liverpool’s match against Barnsley. It’s a match that traditionally attracts a lot of crowd attention, especially since the Reds have considered the FA Cup an important element of the season for years.
Thanks to this schedule of matches, fans will be able to follow the games for several days in a row without having to choose between the matches taking place simultaneously.
Where to watch FA Cup matches?
The good news for football fans is that all the matches shown are available for free. Part of the broadcast will be broadcast on TVP Sport, while the rest will be available for online viewing through the broadcaster’s online platform.
This solution is intended to provide wider access to games and reach both traditional TV viewers and those who only use the Internet.
Long term contract till 2028
Achieving FA Cup rights is not a one-off move. TVP Sport has secured the ability to show the FA Cup until the end of the 2027/2028 season. This means that for the next few years, Polish fans will have continuous access to these prestigious competitions.
For the public broadcaster, this is another step in building a strong football offer, and for viewers – a guarantee that the magic of the FA Cup will once again be a permanent presence at home in Poland.
