Cuba’s men’s volleyball team, currently ranked 12th in the world, will welcome the VNL and the World Championship two international events this year. Recently, it also announced VNL 26-Man Roster. Surprisingly, 38 -year -old attacker Robertlandi Simon, who was departed in the national team last year, is still in the squad this year and is expected to participate in two events.
Cuba unfortunately lost five matches in a key match against Serbia in the third week of VNL in 2021 and eventually missed the Paris Olympics. “After VNL ended last year, we all thought Simon was ready to say goodbye to his national team, but he initiated us to contact us and asked to be re -enlisted by the national team and hope that we would evaluate him every year.” Cuba’s men’s volleyball coach Jessse Cruise Simon explains the selection. “We are planning to attend the Polish event in the third week of VNL, so he can meet the World Championship in the best form.”
Simon has a 208 cm of body facilities, powerful explosive energy and physical fitness. Although he is over 35 years old, he is still in the most competitive Italian League. Simene represented Cuba in the international competition between 20 and 20 and won the silver medal in the World Championship and 20 Grand Champions Cup. Later, to play abroad, he quit the national team jersey and did not restart his second national team career until 2019. He also managed to win the northern central and American and Caribbean Championships that year.
